“A Box to Hide In” by James Thurber

It’s been a long time since I cut a voiceover demo, but I found a perfect (and short) piece to use. So I decided to share it here.

I last worked in radio at the age of 22. At the time the general consensus was that my voice was “on-air” quality, at least for Peoria, but I was never really happy with it. It was sufficient for me to continue to do sporadic voice work over the years (including voicing the telephone auto attendant for every company I worked for), but I felt it was lacking depth. A bass rumble is what I really wanted. As it turns out, the way to achieve that was to survive into my fifties and carry just enough excess weight, and boom, there it was.

So, please enjoy my rendition of this Thurber short story.
